NAVI MUMBAI: The Panvel Muncipal Council has agreed to look at the 15 speed breakers, built on Nithyananda Road in Panvel, deemed to be dangerous by residents. The council had built them in attempt to decrease the vehicle speed on Nithyananda road to avoid accidents. This road is used to access the police station, ACP office, DCP office, Panvel court and municipal office.

But the residents alleged that the speed breakers are built at short distance from each other, violating the norms. “There are five speed breakers within 200m, without zebra marking or warning signs,” said Prathamesh Soman, municipal councillor. Even the traffic cops said that most speed breakers on this road are not up to the mark. As per the norms, speed breakers should be at a distance of 100-120 m from one another.
Panvel Municipal Council Chief Officer Mangesh Chitale said “speed breakers will be built according to cops’ directive by the cops.”
